Body Contouring – Overview & Information

Our goal is to sculpt and refine your silhouette in a precise and gentle way, always tailored to your individual anatomy and personal goals. Below, you’ll find an overview of the surgical and minimally invasive body contouring treatments we offer:

Liposuction is used for the targeted removal (reduction) of localized or diffuse fat deposits that persist despite a healthy diet and regular exercise. It is not a weight-loss method, but rather a procedure to reshape and refine body contours.

Surgery duration: approx. 1–3 hours
Downtime: 3–7 days, no sports for about 4–6 weeks
Aftercare: compression garments for 4–6 weeks, lymphatic drainage recommended
Most common risks: swelling, bruising, irregularities, infection
Scarring: very small puncture scars, usually barely visible

Liposuction is often one of the most underestimated procedures in aesthetic surgery, requiring both a refined artistic sense and extensive surgical experience. Each treatment is individually planned and precisely tailored to your anatomical features and aesthetic goals.

Lipedema is a chronic fat distribution disorder, most commonly affecting the legs and arms. The surgical treatment involves gentle, water-jet-assisted or vibration-assisted liposuction to relieve pain, improve mobility, and enhance body contour.

Surgery duration: approx. 2–4 hours
Downtime: 1–2 weeks
Aftercare: compression garments for 6–8 weeks, physiotherapy and lymphatic drainage recommended
Most common risks: bruising, changes in sensation, bleeding
Scarring: small puncture sites that become barely visible over time

For fat removal volumes exceeding 3 liters, inpatient monitoring is required for safety. Each treatment is individually planned and precisely tailored to your anatomy and aesthetic goals, ensuring both medical effectiveness and harmonious results.

Autologous fat transfer, also known as lipofilling or autologous fat grafting, is a well-established, safe, and versatile technique used for both aesthetic and reconstructive procedures involving the face, breasts, and body. It uses your own fat tissue to restore volume, refine contours, and visibly improve skin quality, without foreign materials and with beautifully natural, lasting results.

In this method, fat is harvested and reinjected to add volume in areas such as the buttocks, face, or breasts, combining the benefits of liposuction and natural tissue augmentation.

Surgery duration: approx. 1–2 hours
Downtime: 3–7 days
Aftercare: compression garments at donor sites, cooling of treated areas
Most common risks: partial volume loss, small fat cysts, asymmetries
Scarring: minimal, thanks to fine cannulas

Fat Harvesting and Processing

Fat is gently harvested using fine cannulas from discreet areas with mild fat excess (e.g. lower abdomen, thighs, or flanks). It is then purified in a sterile process to obtain clean, injectable fat in different fractions. The injection is performed using a precise micro-droplet technique with blunt cannulas to ensure optimal integration and a natural appearance.

Healing Phase and Results

After the procedure, mild swelling and bruising may occur, especially around the injection sites. Typical recovery time is 7–10 days, occasionally longer depending on the extent of treatment. A portion of the transplanted fat is naturally reabsorbed by the body, this is expected. On average, 60–80% of the transferred fat cells remain permanently.

The final result is visible after about 3–4 months, once the swelling has fully subsided and the grafted fat has integrated into the tissue.

Extensive Experience

Dr. Felix Cromme possesses exceptional expertise in fat harvesting and transplantation, gained through many years of work at renowned plastic surgery clinics and specialized centers for body contouring and reconstructive surgery. He has performed over 1,000 liposuctions and fat grafting procedures (lipofilling) for a wide range of indications, from aesthetic enhancements to complex reconstructive treatments.

Injection lipolysis is suitable for treating small, localized fat deposits — for example, under the chin (double chin) or in abdominal folds. The injected substance specifically breaks down fat cells, which are then naturally eliminated by the body’s metabolism.

Treatment duration: approx. 30 minutes (outpatient)
Downtime: minimal to a few days
Aftercare: cooling, gentle rest
Most common risks: swelling, redness, tenderness
Scarring: none

To achieve visible and long-lasting results, the treatment usually needs to be repeated 3–10 times, depending on the size and response of the treated area.

An arm lift is performed to remove excess skin and tissue from the inner upper arms — often referred to as “bat wings.” It is particularly suitable when skin elasticity has decreased and liposuction alone is not sufficient to achieve a firm and toned contour.

Surgery duration: approx. 1.5–2 hours
Downtime: 1–2 weeks
Aftercare: compression sleeves, scar care, follow-up check-ups
Most common risks: bleeding, wound healing complications, scar tension
Scarring: visible scars along the inner arm, which typically fade well with proper care

Dr. Felix Cromme has extensive experience in body-contouring and tightening procedures. Each operation is individually planned and tailored to the patient’s anatomy, expectations, and overall health to achieve the best possible aesthetic and functional outcome.

The classic tummy tuck is a proven procedure for correcting loose or overstretched abdominal tissue, often following pregnancy, significant weight loss, or age-related skin laxity. In addition to removing excess skin and fat and repositioning the navel, the abdominal muscles (rectus diastasis) can also be tightened to stabilize and reshape the entire abdominal wall.

Surgery duration: approx. 2.5–3.5 hours
Downtime: 2–3 weeks
Aftercare: compression garment, drains, scar care
Most common risks: seromas, bleeding, temporary numbness, scar complications
Scarring: horizontal scar across the lower abdomen and around the navel

Dr. Felix Cromme has extensive experience in performing body-contouring and tightening surgeries, both in the aesthetic and reconstructive fields. Each procedure is individually planned and precisely tailored to the patient’s anatomy, expectations, and overall health to ensure safe, harmonious, and long-lasting results.

The mini tummy tuck is a less invasive version of abdominoplasty that focuses solely on the area below the navel. It is particularly suitable for patients with minor skin laxity or small amounts of excess tissue, often following pregnancy or moderate weight loss.

Surgery duration: approx. 1.5–2 hours
Downtime: about 1 week
Aftercare: compression garment, rest
Most common risks: bruising, tightness, small seromas
Scarring: small, low-lying scar on the lower abdomen, flat and easily concealable

The mini abdominoplasty can often be performed as an outpatient procedure and provides a visible tightening and smoothing of the lower abdomen, especially effective after pregnancy or rapid weight changes.

Underarms (Axillary Hyperhidrosis)

Depending on the severity, treatment can be minimally invasive using botulinum toxin or surgical to permanently reduce sweat gland activity (via sweat gland curettage or suction).
Sweat gland curettage is a minimally invasive surgical procedure designed to achieve long-term reduction of sweating in the armpit area. During the procedure, the sweat glands are mechanically removed or destroyed from the subcutaneous layer, precisely and with maximum preservation of surrounding tissue.

Treatment duration: 60–90 minutes
Downtime: 1–3 days
Aftercare: local rest and gentle care
Most common risks: redness, mild pressure sensation, rarely compensatory sweating
Scarring: none to minimal (for surgical procedures)

Hands and Feet (Palmar and Plantar Hyperhidrosis)

In addition to the underarms, excessive sweating can also occur on the palms (palmar hyperhidrosis) and soles (plantar hyperhidrosis). These forms are often particularly distressing, not only socially but also functionally, as they can interfere with daily activities such as handshaking, writing, or walking.

In these regions, botulinum toxin A injections have proven to be a highly effective method for temporarily blocking sweat production. The active ingredient selectively inhibits the nerve signals that stimulate the sweat glands, leading to a significant reduction in perspiration for several months.

Because the skin on the palms and soles is especially sensitive, treatment is performed under appropriate analgesia, such as nerve block anesthesia, cooling, local anesthesia, or twilight sedation, ensuring the procedure is comfortable, safe, and effective for patients.

Focused on complete excision and aesthetically refined reconstruction, this procedure ensures both medical safety and optimal cosmetic outcomes.

Surgery duration: approx. 30–90 minutes
Downtime: varies depending on location and wound closure
Aftercare: dressing changes, suture removal, histological examination
Most common risks: bleeding, infection, scarring
Scarring: depends on size and location of the lesion

Extensive Experience in Skin Tumor Surgery

Through his many years at the Dermatologikum Hamburg, one of Germany’s leading centers for dermatologic and oncologic care, Dr. Felix Cromme has gained comprehensive expertise in the diagnosis, surgical removal, and follow-up care of skin tumors. His approach emphasizes both functional preservation and aesthetically discreet results.

Benign Skin Tumors

Common benign skin lesions include fibromas, seborrheic keratoses, and moles (nevi). Though harmless, they may be cosmetically bothersome, irritated, or prone to inflammation.
Surgical removal is typically performed under local anesthesia with minimal scarring. A histological (microscopic) examination of the removed tissue provides additional diagnostic assurance.

Malignant Skin Tumors

These include, in particular:

  • Basal cell carcinoma (white skin cancer)
  • Squamous cell carcinoma
  • Malignant melanoma (black skin cancer)

Management requires accurate diagnosis, often via biopsy, followed by complete surgical excision with histological confirmation of clean margins.
In early stages, a single procedure is usually sufficient.
In more complex or advanced cases, treatment is conducted interdisciplinarily and according to clinical guidelines, in collaboration with specialized oncology centers when necessary.

Your Skin in Expert Hands

Whether you are concerned about a suspicious mole, unusual growth, or confirmed skin tumor, Dr. Cromme provides care with medical precision, surgical expertise, and a trained aesthetic eye, ensuring the best balance between health, safety, and appearance.

Lipomas are benign, slow-growing fatty tissue tumors that can appear anywhere on the body,  commonly on the trunk or face, particularly on the forehead. While they are medically harmless, many patients find them aesthetically bothersome or functionally disruptive, especially when located in visible areas such as the face.

Surgical removal remains the most effective and long-lasting treatment option.

Procedure

The removal is usually performed under local anesthesia, or optionally under twilight sedation, depending on size and location. The procedure typically takes a few minutes to a maximum of 60 minutes.

During surgery, great care is taken to ensure gentle tissue handling, precise preparation, and a meticulous wound closure using fine cosmetic suturing techniques to achieve an aesthetically pleasing result.

Prognosis and Long-Term Outcome

The prognosis after surgical removal is excellent. When the lipoma is completely excised, including its surrounding capsule, recurrence at the same site is very rare.
However, new lipomas may develop in other areas, particularly in patients with a genetic predisposition or multiple lipomatosis.

Expertise and Experience

Dr. Felix Cromme has extensive experience in the surgical removal of lipomas, with a focus not only on complete excision but also on achieving aesthetic, scar-minimized results.

During a personal consultation, he will carefully assess whether the lesion is indeed a benign lipoma and determine the most suitable surgical technique for your individual case.
